Rangers decided to call it quits with the Ryan Hardie experiment this summer and let him move on.

The Gers sold the young striker to Blackpool, and after a patient start, he is off the mark.

Prior to last night Hardie had made only two appearances, one of which was a five minute substitute showing in the league.

Last night he was given his second start, in the EFL Trophy.

Blackpool won 5-1 at home to Morecambe, with Hardie netting the third.

Hardie sent a message after the fixture expressing his delight at getting off the mark.

This is a big step in the right direction for Hardie and gives him a chance of competing for a league start.

At the start of 2019 there was talk of him cracking the Rangers XI, before Steven Gerrard sent him out on loan again and his form dipped.

After being sold, his confidence may well have been dented, and this goal will help get him back on track.
