Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are five points behind Celtic.

Ryan Hardie has told The Belfast Telegraph that he can sympathise with frustrated Rangers fans following the 0-0 draw with Hearts on Saturday.

Boos rang around Ibrox after Pedro Caixinha’s side dropped another two points, having lost 3-2 to Hibernian in Glasgow seven days previous.

As a result, Rangers, who went into the season on something of a high following some very decent pre-season results, are now five points behind top-of-the-table Celtic.

Nevertheless, Hardie claims that he and his Gers team-mates fully understand the supporters’ frustration.

“I can understand the fans booing at the end. At a club like Rangers, the fans expect you to win every week,” he told The Belfast Telegraph.

“As a squad we know we need to do that. It’s a huge disappointment for us and, even more so, for the fans.”

Five points is a very big deficit from after only three games and Rangers must ensure that the gap does not get any bigger, with Celtic winning all three of their games.

Problem is, Celtic are on a high, as they always seem to be under Brendan Rodgers, and confidence can’t be great at Ibrox under Caixinha at the moment.

Nevertheless, the under-fire Portuguese is paid to turn things around. If he can’t do that in the coming games then the 46-year-old – who has only won nine of his 17 games in charge – might be relieved of his duties.
