Ryan Giggs was impressed with West Ham loanee Joe Hart’s performance for England.
There has been a growing debate about who should start in goal for England at next summer’s World Cup, with Joe Hart’s place coming under threat.
Jack Butland, prior to his injury, and Jordan Pickford are his main rivals, with Fraser Forster in the mix too.
Last night Hart was given the nod against Brazil in a friendly match at Wembley, and kept a clean sheet.
Brazil managed only three shots on target (one more than England) but Hart was equal to everything which came his way, including a late stop from Paulinho.
His performance impressed Premier League legend Ryan Giggs, who was working as a pundit for ITV.
Giggs told ITV’s post match coverage: “Credit to Joe Hart. He didn’t have a lot to do, but when he did he stepped up.
“He made himself big, it was really, really good concentration.”
Hart has been used to being more busy in goal for West Ham during his loan spell, with clean sheets a rarity.
Hart now has two clean sheets in a row at international level and that can potentially act as inspiration for him to kick on at club level.
West Ham are starting afresh under David Moyes, and Hart will return full of confidence.
