Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has spoken highly of Celtic winger James Forrest to The Daily Record, and has compared him to Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.

Bale made his name during his time at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and earned the move to Spanish and European giants Madrid in the summer of 2013.

The Wales international winger – who earns £600,000 per as salary, according to The Guardian – has won the Champions League four times and the La Liga once at Madrid so far in his career.

The 29-year-old former Spurs ace is also Wales’s best player, and led his national side to the semi-finals of the 2016 European Championship.

Former United winger and current Wales national team coach Giggs has raved about Forrest, and has underlined his importance for the Scotland side.

Giggs told The Daily Record about Forrest: “I remember when Forrest came on the scene a few years ago he was billed as the next big thing and he’s clearly talented.”

The Premier League legend added: “He can be that player who can make the difference. When you have guys who take players on and make things happen, it just opens up the game completely.

“Gareth does that for us and perhaps Forrest could be the talisman Scotland are looking for.”
