Speaking on the Sky Sports Football YouTube channel, Ryan Fredericks has been discussing Declan Rice and his ability to pocket other midfielders.

Rice and Fredericks were playing a game of ‘never have I ever’ and the pair were asked whether or not they’d ever pocketed a world-class player.

Fredericks was in no doubt that Rice has pocketed plenty of midfielders during his time, stating that he gets the better of everyone he comes up against, naming Paul Pogba as an example.

What’s Fredericks said about Rice?

The full-back was full of praise for his teammate.

“I wouldn’t say he’s pocketed them, maybe it’s the wrong word, but he gets the better of every midfielder he plays against, in my opinion anyway. So when he plays against the likes of Paul Pogba and all of the top midfielders, he always gets the better of them, so we can use that one as an example,” Fredericks said.

Fredericks isn’t wrong about Rice.

The midfielder, quite simply, is almost unbeatable when it comes to a midfield battle over 90 minutes.

He’s tireless, intelligent, strong and energetic, and even the best midfielders on the planet can’t live with him when he’s at his best.

It’s hard to remember the last time a midfielder got the better of Rice, and at the age of just 23, the fact that he still has so much room to grow is rather scary.
