Leeds plans for this evening’s cup tie hinted at by last night’s under-23 selection.

Leeds United will rotate their team this evening when they take on Bolton Wanderers in the League Cup.

Several new signings are eligible to feature, and in our predicted line up we estimated as many as seven players could make their first competitive starts for the Whites.

One can probably be ruled out, January signing Yosuke Ideguchi.

This is because the Japan international was included in Leeds’ under-23 side which played last night against Coventry City.

Starting two matches two nights in a row is a big ask for any player, and the absolute best Ideguchi can hope for is a place on the bench against Bolton, if he involved at all.

One player who was notable by his absence was Ryan Edmondson, who starred in pre-season.

He is behind Tyler Roberts and Patrick Bamford in the pecking order but he is likely to be part of the Leeds’ squad this evening.

Young full-back Bryce Hosannah was also not involved, and is a potential candidate to be part of the squad against Bolton.

Jack Clarke, Oriol Rey and Sam Dalby all did play for the under-23s, like Ideguchi, and are long shots to feature in the cup tie.

Sam Dalby was the hero, scoring his second brace in a week as the under-23s recorded a 2-1 win, in front of a watching Marcelo Bielsa.

If there wasn’t such a queue in front of him, Dalby might fancy his chances himself.
