Ryan Edmondson and Jack Clarke were amongst the Leeds players who took to Twitter to comment on the club’s post-season trip to Myanmar and mention their hopes for next season.
It has been an extremely testing year for the Whites, and it is probably a campaign that most associated with the club are looking forward to seeing the back of. An underwhelming Championship finish was followed by the two-game trip to Myanmar that saw Andrea Radrizzani face a lot of criticism.
Paul Heckingbottom used the trip to give a number of youngsters a chance to play alongside some of Leeds’ key first-team stars ahead of what may well be a dramatic overhaul of the squad during the coming months – certainly, many of the fans will be hoping that some of the club’s acquisitions during the last two windows have already played their final games for the Whites.
Despite the uninspiring end to the season, there is plenty of excitement heading into the next campaign and that is largely down to the academy starlets who have been given their chance under Heckingbottom.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Paudie O’Connor and Tom Pearce featured regularly in the latter stages of the season and 16-year-old striker Edmondson was handed his debut on the final day before playing a more prominent role in the post-season tour, scoring in the second game.
Clarke meanwhile, was one of the academy players that the fans wanted to see throughout the season after his superb performances for the under-18s and under-23s. They may not have got a chance to see the winger in the league, but he also got an opportunity in Asia, and like Edmondson, he took to social media to comment on the experience.
