Celtic playmaker Ryan Christie is looking to stay at Parkhead.

Celtic playmaker Ryan Christie has told Sky Sports that he is hopeful of signing a new contract after Brendan Rodgers told him e saw a future for him at Parkhead.

The Bhoys are in action against RB Leipzig in the Europa League this evening, and will be looking to continue a decent run of performances.

Celtic are starting to get back into form, and part of their upturn in performances of late has been down to the impact of midfielder Christie.

The 23-year-old had been linked with a move away from Parkhead after 18 months on loan at Aberdeen, and initially found it hard to break into Rodgers’ side.

However, he came up big in the Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts, winning a penalty for the first goal, having a shot saved to result in the second and then scored the third.

Clearly a talented player who need a chance and some bulking up, Christie is now beginning to thrive, and is in line to win a new contract given that his current on expires this summer.

Christie has now told Sky Sports that he loves playing for Celtic and is hoping to sign a new deal, especially after Rodgers told him that he sees a future for him at Celtic, meaning he doesn’t need or want to go elsewhere.

“I love being a Celtic player and want to extend my stay here. It is looking positive and hopefully me and the club can come to an agreement quite soon,” said Christie. “With the contract talks, I had to talk to the manager and he was brilliant and he let me know he saw a future here at Celtic which is all I needed to know,” he added.
