Celtic forward Timothy Weah opened his account on Saturday.
Celtic ace Ryan Christie has told The Scottish Sun that players are giving Timothy Weah ‘a bit of stick’ for his celebration against Airdrie.
The Bhoys took on Airdire in the Scottish Cup on Saturday afternoon, and ran out 3-0 winners in a comfortable evening for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Scott Sinclair scored twice after having a first half penalty saved, before Weah grabbed his first goal for the Bhoys late in the day.
Weah, 18, ran onto a superb Dedryck Boyata pass before sliding the ball into the net, capping off his debut in style.
Weah then celebrated wildly after scoring his first goal for Celtic, and it seems that his teammates found that very funny.
Playmaker Christie has revealed that the Celtic squad are giving Weah ‘a bit of stick’ because his celebration seemed to go on for ages, even at 2-0 up against lower league opposition.
Christie did though note that Weah has been eager ever since joining, and he deserves praise for being so passionate – even if he’s receiving jokes right now.
“Timo could not have planned it better, coming off the bench and scoring a goal,” said Christie. “He was getting a bit of stick for his celebration because it seemed to go on for about five minutes. Fair play to him, he’s been eager to get going since he joined us in Dubai.”
“Everyone was delighted for him to get a goal on his debut. You can see he wants to learn. He is still very young and for all the qualities he’s got, he is also very humble,” he added.
