Ryan Christie has returned to Aberdeen on loan from Celtic
Ryan Christie has disclosed that he specifically asked to be able to play against Celtic during his loan spell with Aberdeen, and expressed his disappointment at the answer, the Daily Record reports.
After an impressive spell at Pittodrie during the second half of last season, the 22-year-old returned to the Dons this summer, this time joining for the entire season.

The terms of the deal mean that Christie will not be able to play in any of the league or cup games against the Hoops, which is something that the midfielder suggested was frustrating.
“When the first loan happened I was accepting of it (not playing against Celtic) as I just wanted to get it done,” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.
“This time I did ask if there was any way around it but it’s a rule now in both league and cup competitions that you can’t play against your parent club.
“It will be more frustrating this season, especially if we draw Celtic in the cups as those are the games you want to play in.”
It is not difficult to see why Christie feels disappointed that he will not be able to play against Brendan Rodgers’ men, especially as he is surely looking to make the kind of impact that will send a message to the Bhoys.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
If the coming campaign plays out like last season, Celtic will be so dominant that Christie will surely be unable to impress against the calibre of opponent that will make Rodgers sit up and take notice – though the Europa League may present Christie with a chance depending on Derek McInnes’ men’s progress.
And with both domestic cup finals last season pitting Celtic against Aberdeen, a repeat of last term would see Christie denied what could have been two massive opportunities to shine on the big stage.
