Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers failed in their quest to bring Derek McInnes back to the Gers, and Celtic-owned Aberdeen midfielder Ryan Christie admits relief.

Rangers wanted to appointed Aberdeen boss McInnes as their new manager and made an approach for the former Gers player.
The Scotsman turned down the chance to manage his former club Rangers, and Christie, who joined Aberdeen on a season-long loan deal from Celtic in the summer transfer window, has revealed that there was relief when it was announced that McInnes will stay on as the club’s manager.

Christie told The Scottish Sun: “When the news broke there was a relief that he had decided to stay and now it feels good that it’s back to normal.”

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 38 points from 16 matches and look set to win the league title yet again this season.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are five points clear of second-placed Rangers, who have played a game more.
The Gers are level on points with Aberdeen, who have also played 17 matches in the league so far this season.
