Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has broken into Brendan Rodgers’ first-team of late.

Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has admitted to Sky Sports that he was frustrated at Parkhead earlier this season.

Christie has been one of Celtic’s most in-form players in recent weeks, and his performances have earned him a new contract.

But, right at the start of the campaign, Brendan Rodgers seemed reluctant to use the youngster.

Christie had to fight hard to win his place, and he admits that sitting on the sidelines was growing annoying.

“I found it frustrating earlier in the season, it was hard to get that chance,” he admitted.

“But once I got that chance it was all about me taking it and now I am happy that I am finally scoring goals and helping create goals – that is my job as an attacking midfielder. If I am doing that, then I am happy.”

Christie now has three goals in nine league appearances for Celtic this campaign.

The 23-year-old is enjoying a fine breakthrough year for both club and country, as he proves his worth.

Christie looks likely to start in Brendan Rodgers’ side next match, which comes against Rosenborg in the Europa League.

If Celtic are able to beat the Norwegians then they could take a big step closer to qualifying from their group.
