Everton have targeted making it into the Champions League qualification spaces within the next three years.
Ruud Gullit has told the Premier League Show, which was broadcast on BBC Two on 16th November, that Everton could break into the top four in the coming years.
Ronald Koeman has spoken of a desire to turn Everton into a Champions League side over the next few seasons.
And Gullit feels that his Dutch compatriot has a chance of getting the Goodison Park side into Europe’s top competition, if he is given time.
“Anything is possible,” Gullit said, when asked whether Everton can qualify for the Champions League.
“The thing is that nowadays in the Premier League it’s difficult for any coach.
“The big five, all of the owners expect them to win and only one of them can win. What happens during the season? That’s why Koeman says he needs three years. He needs some time to make that little step.”
Everton have made an encouraging start to life under Koeman, even if their form has dipped over recent weeks.
The Toffees are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table, after a bright opening to the campaign.
Everton are currently six points off the Champions League qualification places, but Koeman has stressed that his project on Merseyside is a long term one.
Everton’s next match comes against Swansea City, and they will be looking to get back to winning ways, after a 5-0 defeat against Chelsea in their last outing.
