Ruud Gullit has told the London Evening Standard that it will help Chelsea and Liverpool that the focus is on the Manchester teams this season.
This Premier League season is gearing up to be one of the most competitive yet, with a number of teams eyeing the top four and the title.
The focus is primarily on Manchester, where Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have renewed their rivalry at Manchester City and Manchester United respectively.
Elsewhere, though, the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool have all been touted as potential contenders.
Chelsea and Liverpool meet at Stamford Bridge tonight in an early title clash and Gullit says it will help both that the attention is not on them.
“It will help [Antonio] Conte and Klopp in the Premier League that all the attention this season is on the two Manchester clubs,” he told the London Evening Standard.
“Everyone is talking about them as the ones fighting it out at the top. It is good to have Liverpool back — the Premier League needs a strong Liverpool.”
It remains to be seen if either side can secure a win tonight to firm up their potential as title contenders.
Chelsea have enjoyed the better start of the two and currently sit in second with ten points from their first four games.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are sixth in the table with seven points from their games but could move above Antonio Conte’s side with a win at Stamford Bridge.
