Tottenham Hotspur now face a difficult task to progress to the finals of the Champions League.

Ruud Gullit was left utterly shocked by the performance of Tottenham trio Dele Alli, Victor Wanyama and Danny Rose after their team suffered a 1-0 defeat against Ajax in the semi-final of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Mauricio Pochetino’s side now have their work cut for the return leg in Holland, with the Eredivisie side simply needing to avoid defeat to progress to the final.
Donny van de Beek opened the scoring after 15 minutes when he found space in the penalty area and cleverly steered his shot past Hugo Lloris.
Speaking to Bein Sports, Dutch legend Gullit admitted that he was left disappointed by Spurs’ performance as he questioned ‘how this was possible’ in regards to their poor performance.
“For me, there were a lot of players that were disappointing because I see them every week in the Premier League,” Gullit told Bein Sports. “Dele Alli. Oh my god! Technical wise, so bad! Wanyama, oh my god! Rose. Technical wise, especially that.
“Like I said, I see them every week and I think how is this possible? So many mistakes. I know you are under pressure, but also under pressure, you need to know what to do.”

Tottenham have shown before that they are capable of pulling off a result and progressing through to the next round, but needing to overturn the result will be difficult in Holland.
Ajax have knocked out current holders Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus this season and adding Pochettino’s side to their list will only enhance their reputation further.
The one positive for Tottenham is that Heung-Min Son, who was suspended for the first leg, will be back for the away tie which will only improve his team’s chances of causing an upset.
