Tottenham Hotspur ran out 2-1 winners over Middlesbrough yesterday.
Ruud Gullit has told BBC programme Match of the Day, which was broadcast on 24th September, that he thinks that new Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen is too unselfish.
Janssen’s work rate has been impressive in his first few weeks at Spurs, but he has not scored prolifically.
The Dutch forward has found the back of the net just once in his first eight appearances for Tottenham.
And Gullit feels that Janssen is working too hard in areas where he is not a threat.
“Vincent Janssen has done well in the national team, but he comes in places where he can never score goals,” Gullit said on Match of the Day. “He works so hard to help the team, that he forgets that he needs to score.”
Janssen is set for a prolonged run in Tottenham’s side, as Harry Kane is currently out injured.
Kane is set to miss the next eight weeks’ worth of action, and Janssen is the most natural replacement for the England international in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Janssen failed to score against Middlesbrough in his latest outing, but he did set up Heung Min-Son’s first goal of the contest – and helped the Lilywhites collect a 2-1 win at the Riverside Stadium.
Tottenham have now moved up to second place in the Premier League table.
