It was recently reported that Slot is looking forward to taking over at N17 after winning the Eredivisie with the Dutch giants this season.
However, Ruud Gullit seems to suggest that Tottenham Hotspur manager target Arne Slot should stay in the Netherlands.
Ruud Gullit hints at wanting Arne Slot to reject Tottenham manager job
Branded as the ‘best coach in the world at the moment’ by Alireza Jahanbaksh, the 44-year-old is working wonders at Feyenoord.
Slot and Co. seem set to lift the Eredivisie, whilst being in the KNVB semi-final as well, where they meet an unfancied Ajax, which means they could go on to win the domestic double this campaign.
As Ruud Gullit lavished praise on to Arne Slot, he also hinted at him perhaps staying put at Feyenoord instead of becoming the next Tottenham Hotspur manager.
“I am glad that there is interest in Dutch trainers again. It’s been different for a while. Then they went for a Portuguese or German. I wouldn’t give Arne any advice, he should follow his gut.”
“Louis van Gaal also gave advice to [Erik] ten Hag [over taking the Manchester United job]. Don’t, he said. But you can see what’s happening there [at United] now. I hope he stays. It’s pretty nice what he’s done, isn’t it? We’ve talked about the football he plays a lot”, he said, as relayed by Voetbal International.
Slot should accept Spurs job
If Arne Slot sees himself managing a truly elite team, he should perhaps not take the advice given by Ruud Gullit and make the step up to become the Tottenham Hotspur manager.
Unless Slot overachieves with Feyenoord in Europe in his time at the club, he may find it challenging to manage one of the very best teams in the world.
And if he does end up performing at Spurs, he could then be looked at by the select few superteams in European football.
