Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter believe that Jose Mourinho is trying to get rid of Paulo Gazzaniga.
Mourinho’s side progressed into the next round of Europa League qualification with a 3-1 win away to KF Shkendija last night.
But there was a surprising omission in the Portuguese’s squad when it was revealed that there was no room for the Argentine goalkeeper.
Joe Hart started between the sticks and although there was no shock there, it was confusing to see Hugo Lloris named on the bench instead of the former Southampton star.
Gazzaniga impressed as Lloris’s deputy for a big chunk of last season when the France international was injured, enhancing his reputation among Tottenham fans for the most part.
And suffice to say that some supporters on social media fear the worst after seeing that Mourinho didn’t even put him on the bench for a Europa League qualifier, suggesting it speaks volumes.
It has already been reported that the North Londoners are open to offloading Gazzaniga – who cost £2 million [The Sun] – this summer.
But the fact that he wasn’t even on the bench last night might well suggest that an exit is far closer than imagined.
