Russell Martin has won the League Two title with MK Dons after recovering from his time in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers.

Russell Martin has admitted that the 2017/18 season was the toughest of his career, as the defender looked back on his disappointing spell at Rangers in an interview with the Daily Record.
A veteran defender with 29 caps for Scotland arrived at Ibrox in January 2018, signing a short-term loan deal until the end of the campaign after falling out of favour at Norwich City.
Martin was live to offer leadership, experience and quality at the heart of a struggling back line but it is fair to say he did not live up to expectations.
The 33-year-old looked a shadow of the player who had previously impressed in the Premier League with Norwich. In his 15 Scottish Premiership games, Rangers conceded a staggering 25 goals with Martin left embarrassed by a 5-0 thrashing at Celtic and a remarkable 5-5 draw with Hearts.
But Martin believes he still learned plenty from his ill-fated stay in Glasgow, although he is confident that a testing spell will serve him well in the future.

“Last season was the toughest of my career. I saw both sides of the game, players who assume responsibility and those who don’t,” Martin said.
“That will be invaluable for me as someone who wants to be a coach and a manager.”
Martin has had much more to cheer in 2018/19 however. His MK Dons side are still celebrating promotion back to League One with the veteran centre-back making 18 league appearances for the club en route to their third placed finish.
