Swansea City winger Modou Barrow could be Reading bound despite a disappointing spell at Leeds United.

Reading could be getting a bargain if they sign Modou Barrow for £1.25 million.

According to Sky Sports, Barrow is currently discussing personal terms with the Royals, after the beaten play-off finalists agreed a fee with Swansea City.

The Gambian winger spent the second half of last season on loan to Leeds United, where he largely flattered to deceive as the Whites slipped out of the Championship promotion picture.

Yet, only two months before his arrival at Elland Road, Barrow seemed destined for a very different future at the top end of the Premier League.

The Mirror reported last November that reigning English champions Leicester City, along with their divisional rivals Southampton, were lining up a deal for Barrow which could have set them back as much as £15 million – 12 times the price that Reading are said to be paying.

In hindsight, the above valuation was probably little more than agent talk, but with Leeds reportedly seeing off competition from Newcastle United to sign the Swansea man in January [Wales Online], Reading should not be too discouraged by his perceived fall from grace.
