Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Rui Patricio will join AS Roma from Wolverhampton Wanderers this week.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Patricio will move to Roma from Wolves on a permanent contract.
Journalist Duncan Castles reported on the Transfer Window Podcast this week that Roma have offered Wolves €10 million (£8.60 million) for the Portugal international.
However, Wolves want more than that for the 33-year-old.
Romano’s tweet now suggests that Patricio – who cost Wolves €18 million (£15.49 million) when they signed him in 2018, according to Goal – is on the verge of joining Roma, where he will work with former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho.
Who will replace Rui Patricio?
Patricio has been brilliant for Wolves over the years and is a superb goalkeeper.
However, no player is irreplaceable, and the Wanderers already have a quality replacement in mind.
Jose Sa.

The Express reported this week that the 28-year-old goalkeeper is ready to undergo a medical at Wolves.
The 28-year-old is at Olympiacos at the moment and has a strong reputation.
The Portuguese goalkeeper would be able to make an immediate impact at Wolves, who will be aiming to have a successful season in 2021-22.
