The former Sheffield Wednesday manager, Carlos Carvalhal, is also among the favourites to succeed Dean Smith, after the ex-Owls captain left Brentford for Aston Villa.

Rui Faria is the early bookies favourite to succeed Dean Smith at Brentford. Lincoln’s Danny Cowley, the former Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal and Steve Bruce, Smith’s predecessor at Aston Villa are also among the Sky Bet frontrunners.
Faria was hotly tipped for the Aston Villa vacancy until as recently as Wednesday afternoon, but is said to have turned down the job as he is not yet ready to return to work.
The 43-year-old left his position as Manchester United’s assistant boss earlier this year, having served under Jose Mourinho at seven of the eight clubs the Special One has managed.
And he is 7/1 to take the reins at Brentford, ahead of Cowley (8/1), Carvalhal (9/1) and Bruce (10/1).

Cowley has led Lincoln to the top of League Two this season, having previously overseen the Imps’ promotion back to the Football League, while Carvalhal twice took Sheffield Wednesday to the Championship play-offs in his two-and-a-half years in charge, before valiantly failing to keep Swansea in last season’s Premier League.
Bristol City’s Lee Johnson, Molde’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the former RB Leipzig manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl, are all 14/1 or shorter to join Brentford with Sky Bet.
Which, of the former Manchester United number two, Lincoln City manager or ex-Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa bosses, would be Brentford’s best bet?
