Jamie Carragher shared that Antonio Rudiger taking out Bruno Guimaraes during Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday summed up the defender ‘in a nutshell’, as he told Sky Sports Premier League.
In the second half, Rudiger went surging forward with the ball, before Newcastle’s January signing stopped him in his traps by tackling the ball off him.
Guimaraes was then surrounded by a number of Chelsea players, before getting out of the situation where he then had a surging Rudiger coming at him.
The Chelsea man responded to the midfielder’s previous tackle by shoulder barging him to the floor with clear aggression and intent.
Watching on from the commentary box, Carragher loved and laughed at Rudiger’s actions and stated that it just summed him up.
“That’s Rudiger in a nutshell,” laughed Carragher. “Coming out running with the ball, trying to cause trouble and open the opposition up.
“He loses the ball, then somebody is getting it. This time it was Guimaraes.”

Guimaraes can hold his head high because he battled in a strong fashion against a Chelsea side that are sitting third in the Premier League table.
In fact, the whole Newcastle team, who aren’t first-choice under Eddie Howe, deserved more from the game yesterday.
If it wasn’t for a few controversial calls, then perhaps the Magpies, who suffered their first defeat since December in the Premier League, would have walked away with, not one point, but all three.
