Wolverhampton Wanderers had to wait to find out whether they had equalised at Molineux.
Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Ruben Neves has given his opinion on VAR after his goal against Manchester United at Molineux was subjected to a check prior to being awarded (official Wolves website).
Wolves, who were undefeated in their last three outings against the Red Devils going into Monday night’s Premier League match, fell behind to Anthony Martial’s 27th-minute strike.
The Molineux side then had the ball in the back of the United net on 55 minutes as Neves collected a bouncing loose ball and hit a curling effort which nicked the crossbar en route to goal.
In the lead up to the goal, Joao Moutinho’s positioning came under scrutiny, and there were tense moments for the home contingent as Jon Moss awaited confirmation of a VAR check.
However, the goal was given and Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges went on to claim a 1-1 draw against United, with Paul Pogba’s penalty later in the game being kept out by Rui Patricio.
“It was horrible, honestly, but this is football now,” Neves told the official Wolves website. “You have to be patient and fortunately this time they gave us a goal.
“Of course, you get to celebrate it twice, but the other way around is really better! We have to adjust; the technology is good for some and not so good for others, but this is football now.”
Up next for Wolves is their Europa League playoff first leg with Torino in Italy on Thursday night, before returning to Premier League action when Molineux hosts Burnley on Sunday.
