Ruben Neves says Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are a ‘really, really good’ team despite their 3-0 defeat to Wolves on Saturday.
The Portugal International, who finished off the Reds by scoring the third goal of the game after being fed a through ball by Adama Traore, added that it was a ‘massive win’ for his side.
These two teams recently met in the FA Cup. At first, the Midlands outfit forced a replay following a 2-2 draw at Anfield, before they were beaten in their own backyard.
But this time around, it was a different result altogether and a much better performance from the home team.
It’s fair to say that the same can’t be said for those on Merseyside who are really, really suffering with each game they play.
Nonetheless, this is what Neves made of yesterday’s game, as well as his thoughts on Liverpool amid their current struggles, as he told BBC Sport.
“Massive win,” said Neves. “It’s really important for us. Three more points in our fight against a really, really good team.
“One of the big six. I think we showed in the last two games against them that we could beat this team and we did it. A fantastic game for us. We started the game really well. Two goals.
“Then, at the start of the second half, we knew they would come at us with everything, as they did. We needed to suffer a little bit. We needed to stick together and we did really well.”

That’s probably what is going through the heads of many associated with Liverpool because they are in a pure and utter shambolic mess.
The business end of the season isn’t even here yet, but the Reds look worn out, like they have gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson, then forced to go another 12 with Tyson Fury on the same night.
The issue they have is that if they continue in their current ways, and nothing suggests it will stop, then, not only are they going to miss out on Champions League football.
But it might just be a case of no European football at all next season, which would ruin their prospects of signing the big boys next season.
