Ruben Amorim has told CM Journal that he is focused on remaining at Sporting Lisbon until the end of his contract in the summer of 2026 – amid reports that Tottenham could look to bring the talented gaffer in to replace Antonio Conte.
Conte and Spurs responded after a dismal week which saw them knocked out of the FA Cup and Champions League on the weekend. A solid 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest, despite a late Forest goal – and Fraser Forster saving a penalty.
But it is now expected that Conte will leave Spurs. His deal ends in the summer. Mail+ report that the Spurs board have no intention of triggering the 12-month extension clause that remains in his contract. So, who may replace the Italian?
The Athletic claim that 38-year-old gaffer Amorim, who faced Tottenham twice with Sporting in this term’s Champions League, is well-liked by Fabio Paratici. Amorim has commented on his future when posed with taking over at Spurs.

“I have a contract with Sporting for another three years and, in my head, it’s imagining being champion at least once more during these three years,” Amorim told CM Journal over the weekend, when asked about taking over at Spurs.
Ruben Amorim remains focused on Sporting amid Tottenham reports
Amorim would be a superb appointment. A manager that has given Sporting a real identity and has troubled both North London sides this season – beating Spurs at home, and drawing away. Against Arsenal, a 2-2 draw last week.
Four honours including a League title so far, winning 101 of his 146 games as Sporting manager. It is unclear if Spurs will pursue a move, with a compensation package likely to be expensive given his contract ends in June 2026.
Spurs have also been linked with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank, Marco Silva, Ange Postecoglou and Luis Enrique. But, it is likely that Conte remains at Spurs until the end of the season before a decision is announced.
