Manchester United have wasted no time making moves in the summer transfer window, with two deals potentially on the horizon for Ruben Amorim following the arrival of Matheus Cunha and amid a striker search.

The first piece of business was wrapped up early, with Cunha joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £62.5 million – a decisive start to the window. Attention then turned to Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. United have submitted a £45m bid for the 25-year-old forward, and negotiations are understood to be ongoing.

But the work won’t stop there. Amorim is also keen to bring Viktor Gyokeres to Old Trafford, having previously worked with the striker at Sporting Lisbon. But even after these forward deals materialise, the Manchester United boss is looking to strengthen in other areas of the pitch.

Ruben Amorim wants a midfielder and goalkeeper at Man Utd

According to The Athletic, United’s head coach would also like to add a midfielder and a goalkeeper to his squad this summer.

Christian Eriksen’s departure and Casemiro’s advancing age have left the midfield looking light heading into the new campaign.

United have been linked with Atalanta’s Ederson, but financing a significant move would require player sales.

Meanwhile, United missed out on Jobe Bellingham, who opted for Borussia Dortmund, underlining the need for fresh options in midfield.

Goalkeeper situation remains unsettled with Andre Onana

Altay Bayindir is expected to leave after a disappointing spell as United’s backup goalkeeper, and Andre Onana has also struggled to fully convince as the No.1.

Despite links to replacements, Onana isn’t worried about the chatter, but the club’s interest appears genuine.

Recent reports have again linked United with Gianluigi Donnarumma – a signing that would signal a major shift in the club’s goalkeeping plans.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has also been mentioned as a potential addition, though any new arrivals are likely to depend on outgoings – and so far, those have been difficult to engineer.

Ineos, who are overseeing the club’s recruitment, have struggled to move players on, with Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony among those yet to resolve their futures.
