Ruben Amorim has sparked transfer talk around a Manchester United player who has been linked with West Ham, as rumours grow ahead of the January window.

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo is already putting together his plans to strengthen the squad in January. Manchester United made significant signings in the summer but could still use additional help.

Amorim is facing mounting pressure to hold onto his position at Manchester United, struggling to find any real consistency since he replaced Erik ten Hag last year.

Nuno left a tricky situation at Nottingham Forest for an even bigger challenge at West Ham, where he’s now tasked with keeping the Hammers in the top flight.

It’s clear already that he’s going to need support. The new boss has pinpointed where the squad needs help ahead of the January window. Nuno has told the club’s hierarchy that bringing in a striker early in the window is essential.

That’s where Manchester United could fit into West Ham’s plans. Since arriving at London Stadium, Nuno has been linked with several attacking options for January.

Gabriel Jesus, Franculino Dju, and even Real Madrid youngster Endrick have all been mentioned as possible targets. Ivan Toney has also come up as a loan option.

Zirkzee is one name that keeps coming up around West Ham. He hasn’t had much impact at United so far, but there are still some people inside Old Trafford who believe he can become a good player under the right circumstances.

After the arrivals of Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha, Dutch striker Zirkzee has found himself on the fringes at Manchester United.

Nuno is said to admire the forward’s skill set, believing he could be a strong fit for what he’s looking to build.

Reports suggest that West Ham are firmly in the hunt for his signature, with multiple clubs monitoring his situation.

Zirkzee has made it clear through his representatives that he’s open to a January move as he looks to get back into the Holland squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

But West Ham have been getting mixed signals out of Old Trafford since then. Amorim has acknowledged that Zirkzee wants a move away from Man United. But admits he wants him to stay at Old Trafford in case anything happens to Šeško.

Speaking about Zirkzee’s situation and potential departure during an interview, Amorim said: “Zirkzee and Mainoo are our players. We need everyone to have a good season.”

“Some players are not playing, there’s noise, news… some want to play. Like you said there’s a World Cup.”

Zirkzee is under contract until 2029 and is valued at around £34 million but may not command that much given his situation.
