The South Korean hit both goals in the 2-1 win at Middlesbrough to take his tally to four for the season.
Tottenham Hotspur winger Heung-Min Son believes his form will only get better and better as his brace sealed a 2-1 win away to Middlesbrough, as he told the club’s official website after the match.
The South Korean endured a difficult first season at White Hart Lane, making more substitute appearances than starts, and struggling to live up to the £20million price tag after moving from Bayer Leverkusen.
Rumours circulated for most of the summer claiming Son was up for sale with a move back to the Bundesliga mooted, but the 24-year-old stayed and has helped Spurs to second place and an unbeaten start in the Premier League.
At the Riverside, Son showed the skill and finishing that first caught Mauricio Pochettino’s eye, with his dazzling run putting Spurs 1-0 up, before curling a stinging shot past Victor Valdes to double the visitors’ advantage.
With back-to-back braces away from home following his two goals at Stoke City, Son has already equalled his tally from last season in just three games and says he will continue to get better and better.
“I feel very good now”, he said. “I felt good last season as well but I got injured. I try to do my best every game.
“Last season was my first in the Premier League and now I want to do better. It’s not finished, I look forward and will work hard every day for Tottenham.”
Son has started to answer his critics from last season, forcing his way into a very competitive first-team, but he was thankful for the support of the travelling fans who quite rightly clapped him off the pitch after the final whistle.
“I’m very thankful for the fans, they were unbelievable again, every game,” he added. “We fight for them as well.
“The reaction was fantastic and it was a great feeling for me. I want to score more goals to see those reactions!”
The only downside to Spurs’ win was allowing Boro to get back into the game to set up a nervy second half finish.
With Liverpool thrashing Hull 5-1, Manchester United beating Leicester 4-1 and Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Chelsea, Tottenham must be more clinical when they are on top, with goal difference potentially being vital in separating the top sides in the race for the title.
