The midfielder scored Spurs’ second of the game after Aleksandar Kolarov put the ball into his own net to give Tottenham a well-deserved victory.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli admits the club cannot afford to get carried away after they comfortably beat Manchester City 2-0 at White Hart Lane this weekend.
Alli made the comments to Spurs’ Twitter account after Mauricio Pochettino’s side dominated from start to finish to inflict a first defeat on Pep Guardiola as City boss and maintain Tottenham’s position as the only unbeaten team left in the league.
Such was the performance of the home side they really should have scored more than twice, with Aleksandar Kolarov deflecting Danny Rose’s cross into his own net, before Alli stroked home Spurs’ second late on in the first half.

The Englishman was back to his best on Sunday afternoon with his well-taken goal a just reward for his display in North London, and in the second half Erik Lamela had the chance to make it 3-0 from the spot after Alli was brought down in the area but Claudio Bravo made the save.
Despite taking on a side widely tipped to walk away with the Premier League title and dispatching them with ease, Alli is wary his side must sustain that level of performance throughout the season.
“It was a great performance from the first minute,” he told the club’s Twitter account. “We wanted to get in their faces and stay on the front foot.
“We don’t want to get carried away. We have to stay focused and keep improving. The support was fantastic again. If it weren’t for them maybe we wouldn’t have been able to keep pressing like that!”
Whether Alli likes it or not, Tottenham firmly underlined their title credentials at the Lane with an outstanding performance that out-pressed, outplayed and out-muscled City, cutting their lead at the top of the table to just one point.
It was this fixture last season that gave Spurs belief they could go on to challenge City at the top of the table, eventually finishing above their opponents and on Sunday’s showing they gave themselves a better indication of their abilities with an energetic and accomplished showing that will have other rivals rightly worried about their chances come May.
