Roy Keane has suggested that reported Arsenal target Raheem Sterling could be ‘ready to explode’ for England at Euro 2020.
Speaking on Keane and Richards’ Road to Wembley, Keane said that the winger, who the Daily Mail claim Arsenal want, may be set to take the European Championships by storm.
Sterling has fallen out of favour at City, which has apparently led to Mikel Arteta’s side hoping to sign him.
But Keane feels that Sterling’s rather quiet build-up to the tournament could suit him.
“Sometimes you look at players who have had a quiet spell; quiet because they’ve set such high standards,” Keane said.
“Rashford and Sterling, for example. But I think that is a good thing. You’re going into the tournament going ‘these lads are ready to explode’.
“Gareth definitely likes Rashford and Sterling.”
Good and bad news
If Sterling does have a brilliant European Championships then that could be bittersweet news for Arsenal fans.
Sterling being in good form would obviously help England progress in the tournament, but if he does thrive then that could take him out of Arsenal’s reach.

City may be more inclined to keep Sterling if he shows his best again at the international tournament – or it could simply lead to his price-tag rising.
With Arsenal only having limited funds to spend, it would have to be said that Sterling would seem a lavish purchase.
And if Keane’s prediction comes true that may end Arsenal’s hopes of landing Sterling once and for all.
