Roy Keane has praised Liverpool and England international right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold on ITV (7:19pm, November 15, 2021).

The Manchester United legend has said that the Liverpool defender is a brilliant right-back.

However, the former Republic of Ireland international midfielder believes that Alexander-Arnold needs to adapt his game if he is to play for England on a regular basis.

England head coach Gareth Southgate has a number of quality right-backs to choose from.

Reece James, Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier all are brilliant right-backs.

What Roy Keane and Ian Wright has said

Keane said about Alexander-Arnold on ITV (7:19pm, November 15, 2021): “Again, he is 23. He is learning about the game. Sometimes you do have to adapt if you want to get in.

“You talk about him as a wing-back. I think he can play that role, but obviously his strength is at right-back.

“He is brilliant at it, he is absolutely brilliant it, but he is 23. He is still learning about the game. He is not at his peak yet.”

Arsenal legend Ian Wright added: “You can’t ignore how unbelievable a player Alexander-Arnold is.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold will get better

Now, we all know how good Alexander-Arnold is.

We see the Liverpool right-back in top form week in and week out for the Reds.

And he is 23.

Only 23.

That means that Alexander-Arnold will improve and get better in the coming years.

That is scary.

However, if the Liverpool no. 66 wants to establish himself as a regular in the England starting lineup, then he will have to adapt.

Or he will have to play much much better than the likes of James and Walker.

The defender will have to play the way Gareth Southgate wants his England side to.

Alexander-Arnold has scored nine goals and created 52 big chances in 138 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
