Roy Keane said on Sky Sports Premier League (9:22pm, February 28, 2021) that Roberto Firmino got lucky for the second goal that Liverpool scored against Sheffield United.
Liverpool got the better of United 2-0 away from home in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
After a goalless first half, Curtis Jones put the defending English champions in the lead in the 48th minute, and Firmino’s strike on 64 minutes deflected off Kean Bryan into the back of the Blades’ net to secure the points.
Manchester United legend Keane believes that the 29-year-old Brazil international forward got lucky with his strike.
Keane said on Sky Sports Premier League (9:22pm, February 28, 2021): “Obviously we see from behind the goal, it’s probably going wide, a little bit of luck. We criticised Firmino in the first half for not pulling the trigger.”
The former Republic of Ireland international midfielder added: “If we see it from behind the goal, it’s clearly going wide.”
Big win for Liverpool
While Firmino’s strike could have gone off-target, the way he controlled the ball and took his shot in a very tight area was brilliant.
Liverpool were the better side over the course of the 90 minutes and would have won the game even without the own goal.
It is a massive victory for the Reds and keeps their chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table alive.
Liverpool are now sixth in the Premier League table with 43 points from 26 matches, two points behind fourth-placed West Ham United.
