Pundit and Republic of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane has told ITV Sport’s UEFA Champions League Highlights show that he thinks Tottenham have no chance of winning the Premier League title.

Spurs return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon as they take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium, having drawn 0-0 with Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Having also drawn at West Bromwich Albion last weekend, manager Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to get Spurs back to winning ways, or at least continue his side’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

With five wins and three draws, Spurs are the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League this season, and they sit just one point behind league leaders Manchester City as they again mount a title bid.

Last season’s collapse in the final weeks of the campaign scuppered any title hopes for Pochettino’s men, and the Argentinian will be hoping to use that failure to drive another push for top spot this term.

Many believe that Spurs – with a solid defence and exciting young English players – are ready for a title push, but ex-Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane clearly doesn’t agree.

Speaking on ITV Sport’s UEFA Champions League Highlights show, Keane suggested that Tottenham’s Champions League destiny is in their own hands after a good result against Leverkusen.

However, Keane went on to add that Tottenham have ‘no chance’ of winning the Premier League title, and even claimed that he doesn’t care that Spurs are unbeaten, as they won’t be champions come the end of the season.

“Yeah, it’s a much stronger squad,” said Keane. “They’re missing a few important players, but that’s part of the challenge for any group of players, to cope with it. They’re doing well, it was a good result for them [against Leverkusen], I think it’s in their own hands.”

“This idea that they can win the Premier League, I think there’s no chance. I don’t care [that they’re the only unbeaten team in the league]. I can’t see them winning the Premier League, no, but they’re progressing really well as a football club. It’s now about getting their hands on a trophy, but with a trophy, I mean the FA Cup or the League Cup,” he added.
