Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe failed to get particularly involved in the match yesterday at Old Trafford.

Roy Keane has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 30th September, that he has been extremely disappointed with Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe.

Arsenal broke their transfer record to bring in Pepe over the summer, but the Ivory Coast international has made a slow start at the Emirates.

Pepe still hasn’t scored for Arsenal in open play, with his only goal to date coming from the penalty spot.

And the 24-year-old’s contribution to Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United last night was poor.

Pepe didn’t offer much of a spark for the Gunners, before he was eventually taken off by Unai Emery.

And Keane was less than impressed by the attitude that Arsenal’s summer signing said.

“I’m disappointed with him,” Keane said. “Since he’s come for the club, not great body language. you see Saka tonight, Pepe compared to him. He needs to do a lot more.

“His work-rate, his lack of quality, end product. He didn’t seem up for the fight tonight.”

Pepe clearly still needs more time to adapt to the rigours of Premier League football, and his showings in France last year proved how much talent he has.

But Arsenal will be hoping that the rapid forward gets back to his best sooner rather than later, as they need his attacking quality.

Arsenal’s draw with United last night has moved them up to fourth in the Premier League table.
