Speaking on The Overlap, Roy Keane has claimed that Leeds fans at Elland Road created the most hostile atmosphere he’d ever played in.

It’s no secret that Leeds and Manchester United have an absolutely massive rivalry, and it seems as though the Elland Road faithful even intimidated a man like Roy Keane.

What’s been said?

Keane was answering a number of quickfire questions, including some about fans he’d played in front of during his illustrious career.

“Best atmosphere in a game you played in?” Gary Neville asked.

“I think our games against Arsenal were pretty good,” Keane replied.

“Most hostile atmosphere?” Neville then asked.

“I thought Leeds was good away from home, or maybe when we used to have to go to Turkey,” Keane answered.

Taster

This comment from Keane is rather mouth-watering considering the opening day clash between Manchester United and Leeds is just around the corner.

We’ve not seen a packed out stadium in the Premier League for almost two years at this point, and one of the first games back will be one of the rowdiest atmospheres you could ever imagine.

Leeds fans will make sure they’re heard on the opening weekend, and the fact it’s against Manchester United will only spur on the supporters.

Keane knows just how noisy the Leeds fans can be when they’re playing against Manchester United, and this weekend a new generation will finally get to experience that in the Premier League.
