Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher have agreed that Arsenal and Manchester United duo, David Raya and Andre Onana, have been the ‘biggest disappointments’ in the Premier League this season.
The two goalkeepers entered their respective clubs under huge spotlights and pressure this summer.
It could be argued that there was more on David Raya at Arsenal because not many expected Mikel Arteta to replace Aaron Ramsdale in between the sticks – and then the debates started.
Over at Old Trafford, it was obvious that Manchester United were going to bring in a new shot-stopper because David de Gea’s contract had expired – and they put big-money on the table for Andre Onana from Champions League finalists, Inter.
Fast forward to the present and life has been tough for the two, with Jamie Carragher feeling that they have ‘gone backwards’, as he told The Overlap.
Legendary midfielder Roy Keane, alongside Arsenal icon Ian Wright, agreed with those comments and shared his thoughts.
David Raya and Andre Onana
“I would probably look at the two goalkeepers at Man United and Arsenal,” said Carragher about who has been the ‘biggest disappointment’ this season.
“They have been poor, haven’t they?! They are going to move on from Ramsdale and Man United are going to move on from de Gea. It’s almost stayed the same or gone backwards, hasn’t it?!”
Wright added: “I think it’s a good shout, that one.”, whilst Roy Keane agreed: “The United one has been a big problem. I think it was the right decision for de Gea to go, definitely. Obviously, I have been critical of him.
“But then you bring somebody else in, and for him to struggle.”

Who is under more pressure – David Raya or Andre Onana?
You could probably argue Raya, simply because of who he has breathing down his neck.
As the on-loan Brentford keeper proved during his side’s 4-3 win at Luton Town, any mistake, then the camera and talk turns to Ramsdale – Jamie O’Hara says Arsenal won’t win the Premier League title with Raya in goal.
As for Onana, there was more excitement and promise when he first joined. He was outstanding at the San Siro last season and this type of move was a long time coming if you were a Manchester United fan.
But fast forward to the present and Onana has been error-prone, and more than likely, cost his team in the Champions League.
