Roy Keane has said that Arsenal forward Kai Havertz does not have a big personality.

The former Manchester United star has said on ITV (3:18pm, August 6, 2023) that Kai Havertz is not good enough to lead Arsenal from the front.

The ITV pundit does not think that Havertz is not an out-and-out striker.

Keane, though, has said that the Germany international forward is a very talented player and is a good signing for Arsenal.

Havertz, who can operate as a forward or as an attacking midfielder, joined Arsenal from London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The pundit said, as transcribed by Daily Post: “He has done it on one or two big occasions, but I don’t think he [Kai Havertz] has been that consistent.

“I think it is a good buy for Arsenal, every signing is obviously a bit of a gamble, they paid big money for him, and he certainly has the talent.

“The only thing I would question is has he got that big personality? You are on about leading from the front, I don’t think he is that out-and-out striker.

“We will soon find out over the next few years at Arsenal but he’s certainly a talented boy.”

Kai Havertz cannot play as a striker for Arsenal

In our opinion, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should not play Kai Havertz as a striker.

Although Havertz did play as a centre-forward for Chelsea last season, the 24-year-old is better off operating as an attacking midfielder.

As Keane notes, the Germany international is simply not a natural striker.

Arteta used Havertz upfront against Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on Sunday.

It did not work out.

While Havertz held up the ball well and was defensively good in the role, he simply failed to take two very good chances.

Havertz started upfront because of the injury to Gabriel Jesus, and we expect the Brazil international to slot into the team as the main striker when he is back.

Perhaps in his absence, Arteta should play Eddie Nketiah upfront.

After all, Nketiah is a ‘natural striker’, unlike Havertz.

Havertz has made 91 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The German star has scored 19 goals and given seven assists in those matches.
