Roy Keane has told Sky Sports’ Super Sunday, during their live coverage, that he he felt Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon’s body language was impressive.

Rodon made his debut for Spurs yesterday and helped Jose Mourinho’s side keep a clean sheet on their way to a 0-0 draw against Chelsea.

Although Rodon did have a couple of nervy moments during the contest, he generally coped well.

And Keane was certainly impressed with the way that the 23-year-old carried himself during and after the game.

“He did very, very well. He spoke well after the game,” Keane said.

“He got lucky, he gave one or two opportunities, particularly at the end there with Giroud, who should do better.

“But a good debut for him, he spoke well and it looks like he’s got a bright future ahead of him.

“It’s a tough place to go for your debut, he got a busted lip for his troubles as well, but he did really well. Nice composure, nice body language, looked composed out there.”

Rodon’s most obvious error was in the final moments, when his backwards header to Hugo Lloris did not have the requisite power on it and Olivier Giroud raced on it.

Thankfully for the £11 million Spurs summer signing (BBC Sport) his mistake was not capitalised on, as Giroud’s shot was tame.

Rodon could yet be in line for a lot more action at Tottenham in the coming weeks.

With Toby Alderweireld suspended, it appears that Rodon and Eric Dier will be Mourinho’s first choice pairing until the Belgian returns.

And with Tottenham’s next game coming against Arsenal at the weekend, the pressure will be on Rodon to continue to impress.
