Tottenham Hotspur beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 on Tuesday night.
Pundit Roy Keane has told ITV’s Champions League Show that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min is a ‘good little player’ – but shouldn’t be a main attacker for Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men needed a response when they faced Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night, given that they were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal in the North London derby on Saturday afternoon.
When Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finished off a slick move with a powerful finish, Spurs went into half-time 1-0 down at Signal Iduna Park, and needed to come out all guns blazing in the second half.
Fortunately, they did just that, as Harry Kane scored shortly after the break to make it 1-1, and Son Heung-min curled home a fine strike to give Tottenham a 2-1 win.
Spurs have now won their Champions League group – ahead of Real Madrid – and that boost may well give Tottenham a lift heading into this weekend’s Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion.
One player who has staked his claim for a place in the Spurs side for that game is winger Son, who played just 15 minutes against Arsenal before starting against Dortmund.
The South Korean international, 25, often has to put up with a bit-part role with Spurs, but now has four goals to his name this term, despite starting just nine games.
Now, Roy Keane has told ITV’s Champions League Show that he thinks Son is a ‘good little player’ but shouldn’t be a key player for Spurs, and praised Tottenham for responding to that defeat at Arsenal.
“He’s a good little player,” said Keane. “I don’t think he’d be one of your main guys, but certainly as a backup to the other attacking players.”
“It was a good response from Tottenham from the weekend, because you’re on about testing their character, and they’s shown that again,” he added.
