Roy Keane told Sky Sports that Matt Doherty isn’t going to get Tottenham into the top-four.
After a heated debate with Jamie Redknapp about Tottenham’s squad, the outspoken Sky pundit agreed that summer signing Sergio Reguilon is a ‘good player’.
Both players helped Spurs record a 4-0 win against Burnley on Sunday, with the ex-Real Madrid man starting the game.
But before a ball was kicked, however, both Keane and Redknapp exchanged a few tasty words about the quality in Tottenham’s squad.
“I tell you what Reguilon is good as a left-back there is in the country,” said Redknapp. “So, I think you got that one wrong. He’s a class player.”
Keane responded: “That’s why Real Madrid let him go! Why do you think Real Madrid let him go?
An angry Redknapp then reacted and stated: “Oh, because Real Madrid let him go that doesn’t make him a good player?”
Keane then stated: “But how much did they let him go for? It’s not like they paid £60 or 70 million for him.
“Doherty is playing for Wolves, who in the last year have done well, they are expected to compete. They sell him to Spurs for £15 million. Does anyone really think Doherty is going to make Spurs a top-four team, really?
Redknapp then agreed that Reguilon is a ‘good player’ after Redknapp challenged him on his claims about the left-back.

In truth, this Tottenham squad is in decline, especially at the back, and it needs refreshing.
The signing of Doherty hasn’t seemingly worked and a stronger and more reliable right-sided fullback is needed because Serge Aurier is always a worry when going back to defend.
Plus, at the heart of the defence, Eric Dier is still trying to prove he is a centre-back, Toby Alderweireld is getting past his best but would still be an asset at the back if someone next to him could do the heavy lifting.
Davinson Sanchez hasn’t lived up to his big-money price-tag, whilst Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga are youngsters.
