Roy Keane has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Liverpool, that Serge Aurier and Danny Rose were ‘a joke’ at Anfield.

Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by Liverpool yesterday, and their full-backs were at fault for the goals.

Rose got caught under a cross which allowed Jordan Henderson to equalise for Liverpool, while Aurier gave away a penalty by kicking the back of Sadio Mane’s leg.

Tottenham, otherwise, had defended fairly resolutely – but individual errors cost them.

And Keane felt that Tottenham’s full-backs really let their teammates down.

“I think the two full-backs for Spurs, there are huge question marks about them,” the former Manchester United midfielder said.

“This guy [Aurier], he’s a car crash, it’s madness. Same from Rose on the other side! This full-back [Aurier] is a disaster.

“I thought they were a joke, abysmal.”

Tottenham were forced to do a lot of defending at Anfield yesterday, despite taking the lead early on when Harry Kane found the back of the net.

Spurs tried to keep men behind the ball and break on Liverpool, but Mauricio Pochettino admitted afterwards that his side had failed to show enough attacking intent of their own.

Spurs do have other options at full-back, with both Juan Foyth and Ben Davies potential replacements for their Aurier and Rose.

Tottenham are next in action when they take on Everton at Goodison Park.
