Everton return to Premier League action against Manchester United on Monday evening, with fans travelling to Old Trafford for the match.

This game also marks a return to his old stomping ground for David Moyes, who is still waiting on his first league win away at United.

Everton supporters have not seen their side pick up a win at Old Trafford in quite some time, and Monday’s match offers another chance for them to change that record.

Moyes’ side go into the game on the back of an important win over Fulham in their last outing and face another big test as they look to build some momentum heading into the international break.

Andy Burnham compared the atmosphere at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium favourably to that of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Adding to that, Roy Keane and Wayne Rooney completely agree on one thing: the travelling support for Everton.

Wayne Rooney has spoken before about how tough the atmosphere at Goodison Park can be for visiting teams. That same energy often follows the Toffees when they are on the road.

That same energy is carried by Everton fans wherever they go, and this match was no exception.

During an appearance on The Overlap’s TikTok account, Rooney was asked to name the best away supporters. Both Keane and Rooney agreed, selecting Everton.

His response was clear: “Well, if it’s not [Manchester] United, then Everton.”

Roy Keane simply answered with “Everton,” while Jamie Carragher threw a curveball by picking Manchester United.

The presence of those travelling Blues will not go unnoticed on Monday evening, and the Red Devils should be ready.

How many Everton fans are there worldwide?

Estimates put Everton’s global fanbase at around 4.6 million, a figure the club hopes to build on in the coming years.

The Friedkin Group, who are aiming to grow Everton’s presence in the US, are looking to capitalise on that momentum following their participation in the Summer Series.

A return to North America next year for pre-season seems unlikely though, with the 2026 World Cup set to be hosted there.

But despite that, Everton look more stable than they have in some time and appear well positioned under new ownership.

They also enjoy the support of what both Keane and Rooney consider to be the best fanbase in the country.
