Roy Keane told ITV on Tuesday evening that he was ‘delighted’ that Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka was picked ahead of Jadon Sancho at Euro 2020.
Rather than Gareth Southgate opting for his more experienced duo – Sancho and Marcus Rashford – it was Arsenal’s academy product who got a starting birth for England at Wembley yesterday ahead of those two.
And with that start, Saka thrived, caused havoc out on the right flank, helped England to a 1-0 win against the Czech Republic and earned the Man of the Match award.
Keane labelled Saka as a ‘talented’ kid and thinks his ‘attitude’ in training would have played a part in Gareth Southgate picking him ahead of Sancho – the £67 million rated star (MEN) did eventually replace the Arsenal man in the second half.
“Gareth will look at players attitude in training, especially players who have been left out,” said Keane.
“This certainly is a talented kid. And I am delighted. What England certainly lacked the other night was energy and pace and people going past players.
“This kid will bring that.”

Saka’s stock is certainly rising at the Euros and the versatile attacker has only played one game.
But will it be back-to-back starts for the teenager because he certainly deserves it after yesterday’s showing?
England’s last-16 knockout game will take place next Tuesday and it’s going to be against either Portugal, Germany, France or, the most least likely opponent of Hungary.
It’s either going to be, the current holders led by Cristiano Ronaldo, the dread of a penalty shootout against the German’s or the current World Champions stacked with star names preparing to face England.
