Roy Hodgson delivers verdict on pitch at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium

Tottenham Hotspur ran out 2-0 winners over Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace side yesterday evening.

Crystal Palace Roy Hodgson had one complaint about Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium, suggesting the pitch was ‘a bit slippery’ in Football.London.

Palace were beaten 2-0 by Tottenham last night in Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s first game in their new home.

And Hodgson’s overall on Spurs’ new stadium was very positive, although he felt that the surface could have been more stable.

“I don’t know if the stadium was a factor. It was always going to be a tough game,” Hodgson admitted.

“The pitch was outstanding but maybe a bit slippery. The game was pretty much what we prepared for. We knew Tottenham would be flying tonight and we defended resolutely.”

Palace did indeed put up a good fight, but they could not hold off Tottenham for the full 90 minutes.

The Eagles managed to go into the break at 0-0, but Spurs’ pressure eventually told in the second half.

Heung-Min Son scored Tottenham’s first goal at their new ground, before Christian Eriksen added a second fairly late on.

Tottenham have now climbed back up to third place in the Premier League table, and strengthened their grip on a top four spot.

Spurs have another four games to play at their new home before the season finishes.
