Roy Hodgson is confident that West Brom won’t be among the relegation candidates this season.
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has made a strong claim that his former club West Brom won’t be fighting for relegation this season.
The Eagles drew 0-0 with the Baggies on Saturday, a result that saw them moving out of the 20th position.
West Brom are just above them in 17th place with only 13 points on board. New manager Alan Pardew has a lot of fight ahead, but Hodgson doesn’t think that the Baggies will be dragged into the relegation dogfight this season.
Hodgson adds that there are half a dozen sides in the Premier League who never have to give relegation a thought, but in a competitive league like this, a team can get into trouble by losing three or four games at a stretch.
“I don’t see them really as relegation candidates,” said Hodgson, as quoted by the Express and Star. “I think there are teams further up the table who come May might find themselves in a more difficult position than West Bromwich Albion.
“I am sure if you spoke to Alan Pardew he would say they have a lot of fights ahead and work to do as well.
The Baggies are without a win in the Premier League in their last 13 matches. As a result of the poor run, the club had to part ways with Tony Pulis, who guided the side to the 10th position in the Premier League last season.
