Former Liverpool boss Roy Evans admitted he was nervous watching the Reds’ nail biting win over Napoli at Anfield.

Liverpool beat the Serie A side 1-0 to clinch a spot in the Champions League last 16.

Napoli came close to equalising in injury time, only for goalkeeper Alisson to make a crucial save to keep the Reds in the competition.

Evans believes Liverpool were unlucky to have been in that position and could easily have put the tie beyond doubt a little earlier.

Liverpool reached the Champions League final last season, and crashing out at the group stage would have been disappointing and humiliating.

It would have been a harsh price to pay for a couple of off nights at Napoli and Red Star.
