Since Kenny Jackett took up the position as manager for Rotherham United, there has been a renewed sense of optimism around the club. His experience at this level is there for all to see and many players at the New York Stadium will now be hoping to force their way into the first team.

As reported by The Star, once of those player is Will Vaulks who is hoping that he has made an instant impact in terms of being considered for the starting XI.

Vaulks put in a Man of the Match-esque performance at the weekend during the Millers’ 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town, and ahead of the clash against Preston North End many fans are calling for him to be included from the first whistle.

“I was very pleased with the gaffer giving me the nod,” said Vaulks to The Star.

“The manager has been very honest with me. He says he doesn’t know much about me. So it was kind of ‘start again’ for me.

“I was happy to do it and I’m grateful that, just from the few training sessions he’s seen, he’s shown enough faith and given me a chance. Hopefully, I repaid him with an all right performance.”

Being an unknown entity seems to have been fuel for the 23-year-old as he attempts to make his name for Rotherham following a long tenure with Falkirk.

The question marks are still undoubtedly there surrounding this team and whether or not they can mastermind a ‘great escape’ of sorts, but regardless you can see that things are already starting to improve around the Yorkshire club.
