Rotherham United face Barnsley on Saturday in the Championship, and HITC pundits give their predictions on the likely outcome.

Dan Coombs

Rotherham 0-2 Barnsley

Barnsley have had a difficult week off the field with key players departing or being linked with an exit. Despite that, back them for three points here. They are coming off a big 3-2 win against Leeds and should make lighter work of a struggling Rotherham side.

How much will Barnsley’s off-pitch problems impact their performance? Well, very little in their thrilling win against Leeds on Saturday but, with James Bree gone, Conor Hourihane and Marley Watkins seemingly going, they will need character as well as quality against Rotherham. But that should still be enough.

Rotherham 0-2 Barnsley

Rotherham are looking increasingly doomed, and even against a Barnsley team which has suffered something of a mini-January exodus, I can’t see them picking up any points. The Tykes impressed against Leeds and should make it six points from six available in this Yorkshire derby.

Vincent Ralph

Rotherham 1-3 Barnsley

Barnsley will be boosted by their impressive victory against Leeds last time out and they should have enough to overcome the side currently rooted to the bottom of the Championship table.

Rotherham 1-1 Barnsley

The visitors are likely to be smarting from the departure of Conor Hourihane and James Bree to Villa this week, and even though they secured an impressive win over Leeds last weekend, the struggling Millers may fancy their chances of picking up more points in what looks like an impossible ask to stay up.

Barnsley’s impressive campaign is in danger of being stopped in its tracks with a number of key players either sold already or likely to follow. They should still have enough for this one, however, and will need little motivation against their rivals from 13 miles down the road.
