Rotherham United manager Alan Stubbs has spoken about his side’s 2-1 loss to Championship leaders Huddersfield Town.
Rotherham United manager Alan Stubbs has told the club’s official website that he felt his side could have easily earned a point against Huddersfield Town.
Rotherham have endured a tough start to their 2016-17 Championship campaign, currently finding themselves bottom of the table with just six points from their opening 10 games after losing 2-1 to Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield.
Whilst fans understand that anything can happen in the second tier, it does beg the question of how long manager Stubbs will have left if this form continues.
As reported by Rotherham’s official website, the man in charge commented on his side’s loss to high flying Huddersfield.
He said: “When you have such a poor start to the game that we had, then to respond, then we have seen a lot of character in the team.
“I have questioned myself about whether they had that, but I think that tonight they answered that to me. In the end we could have gained a point from the game.
“The players stopped because it was handball. Players are very rarely wrong when they stop, it was a foul.”
Stubbs was referring to the fact that the Terriers took an early lead at the John Smith’s Stadium, as well as having concerns about the validity of the home side’s second goal. Regardless of how it came about, the defeat also broke a 26-year record for Rotherham when it comes to lack of away victories.
The fixtures do not get any easier for the South Yorkshire club either, with Newcastle United and Norwich City to come in their next two games. However, with an international break between the clashes, supporters will be hoping Stubbs can do something to revitalise his squad.
